These Boot Were Made for Ridin’
By Mike Berger
Photos courtesy of manufacturer
Harley-Davidson's new Relief boot ($120) may be the most comfortable riding boot I've ever worn. The boot is built with an integrated cushion – HD refers to is as “ShockAbsorber Twin Pad Technology” – that actually reduces shock and vibration by a substantial amount. While the 6-in. boot is a lace-up, it also features a side zipper that makes putting the boot on fast and easy. Once you lace the boot up for the first time, there's no need to relace – simply use the side zipper. In addition, the Relief features a lightweight, flexible polyurethane midsole with rubber street side and an optional ASTM-rated steel toe, making this durable boot a perfect choice for rough riding. The Relief even comes with a 30-day comfort guarantee. Harley-Davidson Footwear, 800-533-6300, www.stepintoalegend.com

I enjoy mine, the boot fits comfortable. I have problems with my legs and feet swelling after long rides. These boots adjust with the amount of show strings and eye loops used. They feel good when ever I stop the bike and set my feet down on the pavement. Semper Fi John

I have worn Harley-Davidson boots for 25 years and they are comfortable. Sturdy but yet easy to walk in. If you have size 9 1/2 to test I would be more then happy to test them for you.

Are they water proof? Do they leak around the zipper?

I have owned several HD boots and have found them to be very comfortable. I need a lower boot, like this 6inch model as I have very large calves and can't wear tall boots. Would love to test a size 10

I bought a pair of these about a year ago, and they are fantastic, they are comfortable, and look great, the side zipper is a great idea. When I bought mine, I went straight to the manufacturer, because Harley would not give you a day to try them out, in fact they didn't have any in stock, and if I bought a pair from them , I would be stuck with them, if I didn't like them, and of course, I would have had to pay for them in advance and pay the shipping.

I bought a pair several years ago and they lasted a long time. I didn't know that I could actually get a pair to testout. It would be nice to get a pair of these...I think a 10 1/2 would fit, but it might be an 11...Hope you send me a pair..I really could use a new pair of boots..Thanks.. SillyOleBear...!!!

Do they come in womens? If so I would like to test them in a size 9. I have always worn Harley Davidson boots since I started riding. These sound like they would feel really great.

Hi Barbie, in August of 2011, Harley wasn't even carrying these great boots, that's why I ordered them directly from the manufacturer. I would think by now, they would have them at most Harley dealers, or you could go to HD's website on line, or call 800-533-6300. I don't take credit for the actual article, the writer is Mike Berger, all I did was comment on my take of the boot.

I ride rain or shine, so having not only a comfortable boot to wear, but having one that is waterproof is a must for comfort. There is nothing worse than wet feet. Can anyone answer the question if they are waterproof? I would love to try them out. Size 9. Mr. D 60072835

Hello DPolehna, likewise I rain in most any weather. The soles only say oil, and slip resistant. I still have the original box they came in, and nothing says waterproof, however, I had ridden in the rain, and they have held up good for me, I keep them polished, and this helps. I ordered mine directly from Wolverine Shoe Co. who makes the boots for Harley-Davidson. You could direct your question about waterproof boots to them. Unlike Harley, they will also give you a 30 day trial period. When I ordered mine, they had not started making the boot will a steel toe in them. Good luck.
